All children in kindergarten and school have the right to a safe and healthy physical environment.
Description
Kindergartens and schools are responsible for ensuring a good environment, both physically and socially.
The physical environment includes making sure that the building and outdoor areas are accessible and functional for all children, including those with disabilities. To achieve this in the best possible way, schools will involve students in planning and maintain open dialogue with parents.
Students and parents can speak with the school about any concerns regarding aspects that are not functioning well. This may include:
- outdoor areas
- indoor climate, lighting, and noise levels
- hygiene, cleaning, and infection control
- safety

Possibilities to appeal; procedure
Students and parents can speak with the kindergarten or school and request that issues be addressed if something is not working properly. This may include:
- outdoor areas
- indoor climate, lighting, and noise levels
- hygiene, cleaning, and infection control
- safety
The kindergarten or school must respond to the request within a reasonable time. If the issue is not resolved within a reasonable time, you can file a complaint with the municipality. The municipality will assess whether there is a need for further follow-up, such as an inspection. This assessment will be considered an administrative decision, which can be appealed. The complaint should be sent to the municipality.
