Information from the School to Parents

As a parent, you can expect to receive information from the school about general education, school rules, and relevant matters. This information will be provided both on specific occasions and continuously throughout the year.

Description

You can expect the school to provide information about:

  • students' rights and responsibilities
  • students' rights concerning the school environment, both physical and psychosocial
  • school rules and the consequences of rule violations
  • rules regarding exemptions from subjects
  • daily routines
  • general information about education
  • opportunities for instruction in and about Sámi, Kven, and mother tongue education

The school may also notify you of specific incidents, such as concerns about an unsafe school environment.

The student council and the working environment committee must receive all necessary information to take an active role in school democracy.

Information will be provided in various ways, including at parent meetings, direct communication from teachers, or through digital platforms.

Target group

Parents of students in primary and lower secondary school.

Criteria/conditions

The school must not rely on students to relay information to their parents. If parents do not speak Norwegian, the school must provide an interpreter or translation.

The school must ensure that children with shared custody have information sent to both homes.
