A library is both a meeting place and a space for reading or quiet work. At the library, you can use and borrow books, audio files, and movies.

Description

A library is a gathering place for residents and a lending service. The library offers:

  • Books and newspapers in multiple languages
  • Access to the internet and computers/tablets
  • Information and knowledge in all media formats

The library serves as a center for education, enlightenment, and cultural activities.

Target group

Everyone is welcome to visit the library. Libraries provide accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Criteria/conditions

You need a library card to borrow materials from the library. To obtain a library card, visit your nearest library.

The library is free to use.

Guidelines – applying for, or receiving the service

All municipalities must have a library, either independently or in cooperation with another municipality.

A library card is required to use the library’s lending services. You can visit your local library to register, or you can sign up for a Library Card, which can be used at all libraries in the country.

Rules for borrowing and library use are determined by each municipality.
