Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is part of our healthcare services. If you experience reduced functional ability due to age, illness, or injury, our physiotherapists can help. Physiotherapists assess, treat, and provide rehabilitation.
Description
Physiotherapy can be provided both for preventive and treatment purposes in cases of illness or injury. In the municipal physiotherapy service, physiotherapists are either employed by the municipality or have an operational agreement with the municipality. Treatment can be provided individually or in groups.
The service is part of the municipality’s interdisciplinary habilitation and rehabilitation program and is also available in nursing homes.
Target group
Elderly individuals, people with disabilities, and those who are ill or injured.
Criteria/conditions
The municipal physiotherapy service or your doctor will conduct an assessment and make a professional evaluation of your needs.
Charges/Cost of the service
Most people must pay a co-payment when visiting a physiotherapist or manual therapist.
For 2025, the co-payment ceiling is 3278 NOK. Once this amount is reached, you will automatically receive an exemption card, which is digitally available at helsenorge.no.
Log in to helsenorge.no to check your registered co-payments.
Some groups are exempt from paying for physiotherapy examinations and treatments:
- Children under 16 years old
- Individuals with an approved occupational injury (including soldiers in mandatory military service)
You do not need a referral to receive coverage for physiotherapy costs.
