Postnatal groups

Postnatal groups are a service offered by the health center to new parents. The health center invites parents to the first meeting, after which the parents take over.

Description

Postnatal groups provide information and guidance for new parents. The health center invites parents to the first meeting at the health center. After that, parents must take the initiative for further gatherings. These meetings provide an opportunity to share experiences related to childbirth, the postpartum period, and infant care, including:

  • Breastfeeding
  • Infant care
  • Nutrition
  • Child development
  • Accident prevention
  • Relationships

A public health nurse can provide advice and guidance if requested. The babies, of course, also take part in the gatherings.

Target group

New parents.

Charges/Cost of the service

The service is free of charge.
